ABOUT UMN DIVEST
The University of Minnesota is invested in companies that are 1) supporting, upholding, and benefiting from the Israeli occupation of Palestine, 2) invested in maintaining the prison industrial complex and immigration detention centers, and 3) violating indigenous sovereignty across the world. For example, UMN has investments in G4S, a private security company which not only operates in private prisons and youth detention facilities, but also provided security for the Dakota Access Pipeline, using dogs to attack water protectors. UMN also has investments in the Raytheon Company, a defense company that supplies the Israeli military, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Los Angeles County Jail and has tested "less than lethal" weapons on prisoners. The University has investments in The Boeing Company, which not only supplies the Israeli military with aircraft and weapons - weapons that were used against civilians in Gaza in 2014 - but also has a record of labor rights violations including retaliation against unions and exposing employees to hazardous materials. These are only but a few examples of where UMN invests their money. Join us in the call for Palestinian liberation, respect for Indigenous sovereignty, and freedom from the prison industrial complex, and
vote yes to divest.
Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) is an activist group on campus that is invested in building solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for liberation and with all oppressed people. We support the right to return for all Palestinians in diaspora, a liberated Palestine, and Palestinian resistance to Zionist settler-colonialism.
